the Cabinet was instituted in 1950 to support the Governor and came under the Cabinet of the Netherlands Antilles and Aruba (“KABNA”). After the integration of the KABNA with the Ministry of Internal Affairs and Kingdom Relations (“BZK”) in 1998, the Cabinet became an independent government organization. By royal decree of September 11th, 2006 (Stb. 440) the Cabinet was established formally. The formation was set at 12 full-time positions, 5 of which to be occupied by dispatched officials.
Based on the Ministerial Decree that took effect on July 1, 1998 concerning personnel and financial management, the Cabinet can appeal to the Ministry of Internal Affairs for advice and assistance: the Directorate for Personell & Organisation in the personnel sphere, the Directorate for Financial and Economic Affairs (“FEZ”) in the financial and organizational sphere.
The budget was incorporated as of January 1, 1999 in chapter II of the National Budget. Roughly, half of the budget is spent on personnel costs. The other half is spent on costs for materials, including interior and maintenance of the Governor’s Palace.
